In a career that lasted from his first big hit in 1951 right up to the 2020s, Tony delighted audiences with his stylish renditions of classic songs.
He sold over 50 million records and was the oldest man to have a number one album in the United States. He won two Emmys and 20 Grammys but perhaps his greatest accolade was this supreme compliment from Frank Sinatra:
“Tony Bennett is the best singer in the business.”
Over the years he worked with many artists, becoming a mentor to Amy Winehouse and recording with Elvis Costello, Paul McCartney, Barbra Streisand and Elton John, to name just a few.
