MACCA & THE STONES

Feb 27, 2023

Sir Paul McCartney is to appear on a forthcoming Rolling Stones album.

A chance meeting between Paul and Sir Mick Jagger and Keith Richards at a studio in Los Angeles led to the former Beatle laying down a bass part for a track on the album.

Unconfirmed reports suggest the meeting was at the home studio of producer Andrew Watt in LA.

Paul has played on many other people’s albums over the years but this would be the first time since the 60s that there has been collaboration between members of the world’s two biggest bands.

Back then the fans liked to think of The Beatles and the Stones as rivals but, if they were, it was very much a friendly rivalry.

The Stones’ second hit single in 1963 I Wanna Be Your Man was a Lennon/McCartney composition and Paul and John Lennon both sang on the 1967 hit We Love You.

The Stones album, as yet untitled, will contain the first new material for 20 years and feature the late Charlie Watts on drums.

As well as the links to stations highlighted above we also have Only Hits stations for all.
