There’s no doubt that Neil Finn sees music making as a family affair. Going back to Split Enz, the band that predated Crowded House, Neil’s brother Tim was a member, as he was for the 1991 album Woodface.
For the first Crowded House album in 11 years, Dreamers Are Waiting, its Neil’s sons Liam and Elroy who keep the family business ticking along.
Whilst 11 years might seem a long hiatus Neil has kept very busy. Before starting work on the latest album he toured the world with Fleetwood Mac as one of two replacements for Lindsey Buckingham.
Before the pandemic changed everything around the world the band, completed by Nick Seymour and Mitchell Froom, worked closely together in the same studio, but once things had to change the album needed to be finished remotely, with musicians adding their parts online.
The result is an album full of soft harmonies and shuffling rhythms. Well worth waiting for, you can hear it on our dedicated Crowded House station.
