Barbra Streisand and Dolly Parton have led tributes to Kris Kristofferson after his death aged 88.
Barbra Streisand said she, “knew he was something special” the first time she saw him perform. They went on to share top billing in the 1976 remake of the movie A Star Is Born.
Long-time friend Dolly Parton, who collaborated with Kris on duets including From Here To The Moon And Back and Put It Off Until Tomorrow said, “What a great loss. What a great writer. What a great actor. What a great friend.”
Father of eight, Kris married three times – including to singer Rita Coolidge, with whom he recorded several duet albums and won two Grammy Awards in the 1970s.
He passed away at his home on the Hawaiian island of Maui.
